Plunderlings are a new concept of fantasy creature. A little bit goblin, a little bit pirate, united with infectious charm. These greedy adorable pirates travel from island to island looking for treasure and mischief. Lone Coconut is building a fully articulated figure that is versatile and able to sit comfortably next to your Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Master of the Universe, Figuarts, or Mythic Legions action figures!
The world of Plunderlings is developed Ricky Gluski and Andres Rodríguez with Lone Coconut, which is a creative, animation and visual effects studio based in the Dominican Republic. But they are first and foremost toy collectors and enthusiasts that for many years felt that they had an impish shaped hole in their collections. They loved many of the classic toy lines of the 80’s and wanted to bring that sense of excitement, adventure and passion to the project. They have been collaborating with a number of industry veterans to bring this project to life – including Jason Bienvieu from Spero toys as a project advisor, Chris Gawrych who has worked with NECA and Four Horsemen Studios as their production coordinator. Their figures are designed by the talented Seba Dom, accessories by GD Lake and hats modeled by Fabiano Carlos, sculptor for McFarlane Toys.
You can check out an example of the figures below…
The Plunderling action figure is 1/12 scale and without a hat will stand 3.8 inches tall with over 25 points of articulation. As of now they have 12 unique Plunderling figures already designed in 6 different themes. Each in a variety of colors, each including their own accessories, 3 different heads, a magnetic hat and two pairs of hands (relaxed and gripping). The first available themes are RAIDER, BESERKER and NOMAD.
With 44 days left in the Kickstarter, more stretch goals will surely be added to help this line grow. Lone Coconut is looking to have these figures in collector’s hands in February of 2020. Their goal is $65,000, and they have already flown by the half way point 3 days in. If you are interested in supporting this project, you can check it out here:
