It’s not every day that you see a cool collectible like this, and in fact it is most likely the first comic book collectible of its kind. The Royal Canadian Mint will be releasing a Fine Silver Sculpture Coin called Superman: The Last Son of Krypton. This is not your father’s coin either. This coin features a gold-plated Superman statuette rising from the surface of the coin!
The idea for Superman: The Last Son of Krypton first came about when the Mint’s Research and Development team was working on the Sculpture of Majestic Canadian Animals series. Each coin features a gold-plated statuette rising up from the surface, depicting iconic animals like the elk and grizzly bear in a uniquely multi-dimensional way.
The coin’s designer Jason Fabok said, “I never would have imagined that my artwork would appear on coins or statues. As a Canadian, I was humbled to be asked to design this coin. It’s something I’m very proud of — and I think Superman fans will absolutely love it.”
Fabok is quickly turning into the “go-to” designer for our favorite toys and collectibles based on the DC Comics universe. He along with Paul Harding are the masterminds behind DC Collectibles new DC Essentials action figure line. We can’t wait to see what he does next!
